Posted on 18 November 2009 by admin

Sydney, Australia-: The Al-Ghazzali Centre hosts the “Take My Hand” Tour with Nader Khan, a Canadian Muslim singer & social activist from Toronto, Canada. The tour which is a part of the “Eastern Fusion” initiative, has been running since November 13 and is scheduled to end on November 22nd, 2009.

As the Programs Director of ReliefWorks, Nader Khan tours the world, in an effort to raise 1 million dollars globally to fight hunger around the world through ReliefWorks’ “FEED ME” campaign. This is done by inspiring young Muslims through devotional songs and lectures, and to remind them of the Prophetic example of mercy and compassion so that they may have the opportunity to live the deen (faith), as socially conscious Islamic activists, and become a channel for Divine Mercy. Shaykh Faraz Rabbani the Managing Director of ReliefWorks, says: “ReliefWorks is unique, as it seeks to assist those in need around us in the societies we live in, in order to fulfill the Prophetic command to be people of concern for our neighbors and communities.”

With concerts within Sydney and as far away as Melbourne, ReliefWorks is engaging Muslim Youth in the thousands through Nader’s unique and contemporary style of devotional music. Imam Afroz Ali, the Founder and President of Al-Ghazzali centre when asked about Nader’s performance said: “The Muslim Youth in Melbourne have never had exposure to such a level of spirituality through music. You could see the eyes of the Muslim youth glowing as they heard Nader sing. For me personally it has been an extremely moving and spiritually awakening experience.”

As with all of Nader’s performances, a major portion of the funds raised on this tour will be donated to local charitable initiatives including the “Ansaar Project” to feed the poor in Sydney, as well as RISE refugee (http://www.riserefugee.org) an initiative that aids refugees and ex-detainees in Melbourne.

The final concert is scheduled for Saturday November 21st at the River Canyon Restaurant at 96 Phillip Street, Parramatta. Nader will perform songs from his current album “Take my Hand” as well as songs from his upcoming album, including songs written by internationally renowned scholars Shaykh Hamza Yusuf, Imam Zaid Shakir and Shaykh Abdul Hakim Murad.

The tour will end off with a speaking engagement on Sunday November 22nd, where Nader will speak about Creativity and the Spiritual Path and the role of his music at the White Pavilion, Nielsen Park, Vaucluse.

Members of the Media are invited to attend the events and Nader Khan will be on hand for interviews after the events. Please contact Imam Afroz Ali to RSVP your attendance.
